Frequently Asked Questions

Are all of your candles really Hand poured?

YES! Each candle is made by hand. We melt the wax in a specialist furnace and monitor the temperature, stirring the wax by hand. Then we measure and mix in the high quality fragrance oil by hand. The candle is then weighed and poured by hand into the jar. What's more, we also place the candle wicks and label the jars by hand too.

Do you keep stock of all items?

Yes we do try to keep enough stock for our web sales however we make small batches of each candle- sometimes only 3 or 6 candles per batch. therefore we cannot accumulate huge stock in a warehouse. Therefore sometimes a scented candle may show as out of stock on our web site. Please email us and we will let you know when it will be ready to ship again. Before we sell our candles we always cure them to ensure the fragrance has stabilised and to maximise the performance of the candle. This also adds to the time taken to prepare candles for sale. If you want a bulk supply of candles for your own business or for a wedding or party or work gifts for employees we can accommodate most requests and quantities but we will need the appropriate amount of time. Therefore please email us in advance.

Where do you ship to?

Mainland UK only. Due to different candle label regulations in other countries we cannot ship to Europe or Northern Ireland.

How do you ships orders?

We use Royal Mail or another reputable courier and the parcels do not require a signature. Tracking is usually available to us.

How long will my order take to arrive?

Once we receive your order we aim to ship the next working day. After shipping the order should arrive within 3-5 working days but usually it is sooner.

What are the shipping charges?

Shipping is free for all orders of £50 or more. For orders below £50 a flat shipping fee of £5.95 is charged.

What type of wax do you use?

We use 100% natural soy wax, which is vegan, biodegradable, and burns cleaner than traditional paraffin. Soy wax also allows for a slower, longer-lasting burn and holds fragrance beautifully.

Do your candles contain paraffin, parabens, or phthalates?

No. Our candles are made using paraben-free, phthalate-free fragrance oils and natural soy wax. We avoid unnecessary additives to keep our candles as clean and natural as possible. Unlike some manufacturers we do not even use cosmetic dyes or UV agents. This is so that we can to minimise unnecessary chemicals in your space.

Are your candles Vegan friendly?

Yes our entire range Wicker Lane Candle Co and Aromathé by Wicker Lane Candle Co are all Vegan friendly and cruelty free.

How long do your candles burn?

Our standard 210g candle range has a burn time of approximately 40 hours, depending on room conditions and proper candle care. Aromathé 220g candles have a burn time of approximately 42 hours. Unlike other candle makers, we are very conservative with our estimates and these figures should be easily achievable and even longer burn times may be seen. Always allow a full melt pool on the first burn to maximise performance. We recommend 3-4 hours burn on the first burn to ensure a good full and deep melt pool is achieved.

Do your wicks contain lead or other harmful products?

No. Our wicks are made from pure cotton and woven paper filaments only. They contain no lead or other toxins.

Why does my candle look slightly frosted or uneven?

This is completely normal for natural soy wax. Frosting and slight texture variations are a natural characteristic of soy and show that the candle is made without additives. These do not affect the scent or performance. Having said that, our production process ensures the best finish and a smooth and glossy finish with minimal variances.

What is tunnelling?

Tunnelling is the name given to the phenomenon of wax building up around the edges of a candle jar as the wick burns down the centre. It creates a tunnel of wax around the edge of the jar that does not melt. We test our candles and wicks extensively, for many months at a time, to get the correct combination. So providing that you follow our candle burning and care tips, you should have no need to worry. The best way to ensure a good, full burn, to the edge of the container, is to burn your candles for 2-4 hours especially on the first few burns. Short burns of only a few minutes will not allow the wax to melt all the way to the edge and can cause uneven burning later on in the candles life.

What is the best way to care for my candle?

For best results:

  • Trim the wick to around 5mm before every burn

  • Allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface

  • Burn for 2–4 hours at a time- no more than 4 hours max.

  • Keep away from drafts and place on a heat-resistant surface

Following these steps will allow your candle to last longer and burn more cleanly.

Do your candles produce black marks on the jar?

When candles burn they consume the fuel, which is soy wax and the fragrance oil. We have tested the candles and formulated them to have the best burn characteristics and soy wax is a low soot wax and much, much cleaner then paraffin, for example. However, depending on the room temperature, drafts, etc, some darkening of the inside edges of the candle jar can occur. Before each burn, check the inside of the jar for any dark marks and simply wipe them away with a slightly damp tissue or wet wipe. Trimming the wick to 5mm before each burn also helps prevent any dark spots on future burns.

Can I reuse the candle jars?

Absolutely! Once your candle has finished, simply clean out the remaining wax and wash the jar with warm soapy water. They make great containers for storage, décor, or small plants.

Can I return or exchange my order?

For hygiene and safety reasons, we cannot accept returns on used candles. However, if your item arrives damaged or incorrect, please contact us within 48 hours and we will resolve the issue quickly.

Are your fragrances strong?

Our candles are designed to have an excellent scent whilst being balanced and room-filling. Soy wax offers a smooth, steady fragrance release that creates a comfortable, inviting atmosphere. Small rooms will fill quickly and our candles usually easily fill a medium to moderately large room. For larger rooms or open-plan spaces, party halls, etc, multiple candles can be used.

Do you use essential oils or fragrance oils?

We use high-quality fragrance oils specifically designed for candle making. These offer a stronger scent throw, greater consistency, and safer burning characteristics than essential oils.
